Mariners recall outfielder James Jones from AAA Tacoma

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:

  • James Jones, OF, recalled from AAA Tacoma
  • Erasmo Ramirez, RHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/27)

Jones, 25, is in his fourth stint with the Seattle this season. He has hit .256 (75x293) with 39 runs, 8 doubles, 4 triples, 9 RBI with 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts in 83 games with the Mariners this season. In 37 games with the Rainiers this season, he has hit .282 (44x156) with 6 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 15 RBI and 7 stolen bases.


Ramirez, 24, took the loss in his last start with Seattle on Aug. 27. In six stints with the Mariners, he is 1-6 with a 5.21 ERA (39 ER, 67.1 IP) with 55 strikeouts. In his prior 6 starts before the loss, he was 0-1 with a 1.15 ERA (4 ER, 31.1 IP) with 26 strikeouts, lowering his ERA from 6.82 to 4.06. Overall with Tacoma this season is 5-5 with a 3.63 ERA (34 ER, 84.1 IP) with 64 strikeouts in 14 starts. Also made one start with High-A High Desert.
