Mariners complete Kotchman trade
PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Mariners on Thursday announced that they sent right-handed pitcher Miguel Celestino to the Boston Red Sox to complete the January trade for first baseman Casey Kotchman.
Kotchman was acquired by the Mariners in exchange for utility man Bill Hall and a player to be named. Celestino, 20, went 5-3 with a 4.73 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) for the rookie-level Arizona Mariners of the Arizona League in 2009. He played for the Mariners' entry in the Dominican Summer League in 2007 and '08.
Celestino, a native of the Dominican Republic, originally signed with the Mariners as an international free agent on Dec. 16, 2006.
