Mariners cut eight from spring camp

PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Mariners made their first roster moves of the spring on Wednesday morning, sending one player to Triple-A Tacoma and seven to their Minor League camp.

That leaves 55 players still in the Major League camp, 39 on the 40-man big league roster.

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Feierabend was sent to Tacoma. Right-handed pitchers Josh Fields and Steven Shell, left-handers Nick Hill, Chris Seddon and Mauricio Robles, and catchers Luis Oliveros and Steven Baron were sent to the Minor League camp.

Feierabend, a third-round selection by the Mariners in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, missed the entire 2009 season after Tommy John surgery to repair his left elbow. In '08, he made eight appearances (all starts) for the Mariners and was 1-4 with a 7.71 ERA.

Feierabend was the only player among the group on the 40-man roster that was re-assigned.
