Monday, March 8 Mariners at the plate: Matt Tuiasosopo led the offense with two singles and a double, scoring one run and driving home two. Left fielder Ezequiel Carrera and Mike Sweeney added two hits apiece. White Sox at the plate: Alex Rios saw his first time in center field this spring and launched his first Cactus League home run to lead off the fifth. Paul Konerko also went deep for the first time this spring, connecting off of Ryan Rowland-Smith leading off the second.
After spending one day away from the Peoria Sports Complex, playing two road games on the same day, the Mariners return for a 12:05 PT game against the Indians. It will be the last day in the Major League clubhouse for several of the players as the first roster cuts of Spring Training are expected to be made on Wednesday. Left-hander Jason Vargas makes his second start of the spring and is pursuing the fifth spot in the rotation. Right-handers Yusmeiro Petit, Steven Shell, Chad Cordero, Mike Koplove and Levale Speigner also are scheduled to pitch.
