CHICAGO -- The White Sox had waited all day to break through against Mariners ace Felix Hernandez. With the first run of the game already across in the eighth inning, manager Robin Ventura used a challenge to aid his club's rally.

After Dayan Viciedo hit an RBI double and was replaced by pinch-runner Moises Sierra, Alejandro De Aza hit a chopper to second. Sierra broke for third, but was caught in a rundown after Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano threw over to third. Sierra stayed in the rundown long enough to allow De Aza get to second, and was eventually called out while diving toward third.

The White Sox dugout immediately reacted, claiming that Sierra was never tagged. After a review of 53 seconds, the call was overturned, giving Chicago runners and second and third with no outs. Tyler Flowers followed with a sacrifice fly that gave the Sox a 2-0 lead.
