The National League's latest voting was scheduled to be released Tuesday, and the final selection of the full AL and NL teams will be announced Sunday at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN.
Cano was a five-time All-Star with the Yankees before signing with Seattle last offseason and was voted as the starting second baseman the past four years, while Kinsler was a three-time All-Star during his previous stint with the Rangers.
Cano has a chance to become the third second baseman in American League history to earn as many as five consecutive fan-elected starts, joining Hall of Famers Rod Carew (six straight from 1970-75) and Roberto Alomar (five straight from 1996-2000).
Cano would join Bret Boone (2001) as the only fan-elected starting second basemen in Mariners history, and he could become just the fourth Seattle infielder to receive an election from the fans, joining Boone, John Olerud (first base in 2001) and Alex Rodriguez (shortstop in 1997-98 and 2000).
At the time of the ballot update, Cano ranked second in the American League with a .367 batting average with runners in scoring position, was fourth with a .319 overall batting average and was tied for fourth with 30 multihit games, tied for sixth with 96 hits and tied for eighth with a .377 on-base percentage.
Cano is the only Mariners position player ranked among the top five in voting at his position, or top 15 in the outfield. While third baseman Kyle Seager has been red hot over the past month and has comparable or better offensive numbers than any of the league's players at his position, he still has not cracked the top five in voting.
