SEATTLE -- Red Sox manager John Farrell went 1-for-2 in replay challenges on Tuesday night against the Mariners.

In the top of the third, Mike Napoli was originally robbed of a hit on what looked like a great catch down the left-field line by Dustin Ackley.

Farrell came out to challenge the play, and after a review of two minutes and 18 seconds, it was ruled a single, with David Ortiz moving to second.

The Mariners then wanted to challenge whether Robinson Cano had forced Ortiz at second base, but they were told that a second review wasn't necessary because the umpires had reviewed the actions of the baserunners in the first replay.

In the bottom of the fifth, Farrell challenged a play on defense, when starter Jake Peavy covered first in an attempt to complete a 3-6-1 double play off the bat of James Jones.

Following a review of two minutes and 42 seconds, the call stood and Jones was safe.

Of the 15 plays Farrell has challenged this season, nine have been overturned.
