Mariners recall RHP Erasmo Ramirez

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster move this afternoon:

  • Erasmo Ramirez , RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
  • Nick Franklin , INF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 6/2)

Ramirez (#50) will be the starting pitcher for tonight's series opener vs. vs. the Atlanta Braves (7:05 pm ET/4:05 pm PT) at Turner Field.

Ramirez , 24, will be making his seventh start for the Mariners this season (1-4, 6.00 ERA). He last pitched in the Majors in the second game of the doubleheader May 7 at Oakland (6.0,6,2,2,1,4,HR). In 5 starts with the Tacoma Rainiers, Ramirez was 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA (15 ER, 29.2 IP). He made his last start with Tacoma on May 29 vs. Salt Lake, allowing 2 runs in 6.0 innings.

Franklin , 23, was 4-for-31 (.129) with 15 strikeouts since his rejoining the Mariners from AAA Tacoma on May 20. In 30 games with the Rainiers this season Franklin is batting .376 (41x109) with 7 doubles, 7 home runs and 26 RBI.
