Mariners recall Jones, option Almonte

OAKLAND, Calif. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves today prior to the Mariners game vs. the Oakland Athletics:

James Jones, OF, recalled from AAA Tacoma.

Abraham Almonte, OF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 5/4).

Jones will be in uniform (#99) for tonight's game vs. the Oakland Athletics at O.co Coliseum (7:05 pm PT).

Jones, 25, will be making his second stint with the Mariners this season. He made his Major League debut and went 1-for-1 April 18 at Miami. In 21 games with the Rainiers he was batting .321 (26x81) with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 8 RBI and 5 stolen bases. He leaves Tacoma with an active 10-game hitting streak (.333/14x42).

Almonte, 24, saw action in 27 of the Mariners 29 games, making 25 starts (all in center field). The switch-hitter was batting .198 (21x106) with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 8 RBI.
