SEATTLE -- The Mariners announced on Thursday that Jeff Kingston has been hired as the club's assistant general manager. Kingston, 32, had been the Padres' director of baseball operations since Nov. 2002, and was in their baseball operations department for the past nine seasons. "I am excited to add Jeff to our front office staff," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "He has assisted in several capacities with San Diego and his skill set and diversity will aid this organization as we move forward."
Kingston assisted the Padres GM and assistant GM in all player acquisitions, as well as roster, payroll and budget management.
