Medical update on left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today the following medical update on Triple-A left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen:

Hultzen was examined today by Dr. Edward Khalfayan, the Mariners medical director.

Dr. Khalfayan has diagnosed a left rotator cuff strain and tendinitis. Hultzen will be treated with rest and rehabilitation and is expected to miss approximately two weeks.

Hultzen, 23, is currently on the roster of Triple-A Tacoma in the Pacific Coast League. He was scratched from his start last night in Las Vegas when he could not get loose in the bullpen.

In four starts with the Rainiers this season, Hultzen is 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA (7 ER, 22.2 IP). He has walked 6, struck out 25 and has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in any game.
