Salute to Armed Forces Night at Safeco Field


The Seattle Mariners and The Boeing Company pay tribute to the men and women serving our nation in the military on Saturday, April 13, with the 12th Annual Boeing Salute to Armed Forces Night. Fifteen thousand fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative coin, courtesy of Boeing. Game time is 6:10 p.m. vs. the Texas Rangers. Good seats remain available.

Service persons from the five branches of the military will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony and they will throw out simultaneous ceremonial first pitches:

  • Sgt. Andrew Lester, U.S. Army
  • Master-at-Arms Petty Officer First Class Brennan McClure, U.S. Navy
  • Senior Airman Anthony Haupert, U.S. Air Force
  • Master Sergeant Jorge Castillon, U.S. Marine Corps
  • Petty Officer First Class Catherine Kavanaugh, U.S. Coast Guard

Taps will be performed pregame by Specialist Adam Buell, U.S. Army, the National Anthem will be performed by Navy Band Northwest, and the colors will be presented by the United States Joint Service Honor Guard. God Bless America will be performed at the 7th Inning Stretch by First Lieutenant Nathan Ring, U. S. Air Force.

High-ranking officers from each of five branches of the military and the Washington National Guard will be presented with commemorative plaques. Receiving plaques will be:

  • Lieutenant General Robert B. Brown, U.S. Army
  • Lieutenant Colonel Jeff A. Symons, U.S. Marine Corps
  • Rear Admiral Mark K. Rich, U.S. Navy
  • Colonel Bruce A. Bowers, Jr., U.S. Air Force (on behalf of Colonel Wyn Elder)
  • Rear Admiral Keith A. Taylor, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Brigadier General Wally Turner, Washington National Guard

Representatives of the U.S. Military branches as well as Disable American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Legion, V.F.W., Washington State Guard and Reserve, and U.S.O. will be introduced during the pregame ceremony and will handle the honorary duties of delivering the line-up card and the honorary game ball.

USO Benefit

Fans in attendance will have the chance to support U.S.O. with three silent auction tables near Aisle 128 of the Main Concourse, the Terrace Club and the View Level (300 Level). Items available for bid include autographed baseballs, game-used items and other memorabilia. The items will be available for bid through the 6th Inning. Volunteers will be outside the gates of the ballpark collecting donations for the V.F.W. Troop Support program.

EQC Military Discount Nights

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners offer discount tickets for members of the U.S. Military, presented by EQC. Military personnel receive $5 off select View Level seats or $10 off select Main Level seats for all Sunday through Thursday home games. Military discounts are available at the Safeco Field box office and Mariners Team Stores. Must present Military I.D. Limit of four tickets per hero per game.

They can also be purchased with no service charge at Seattle Mariners Team Stores (Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall, Alderwood Mall, and at 4th and Stewart in downtown Seattle) and the Safeco Field box office. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, or by calling 1-888-SEA-HITS.
