Outfielder Casper Wells claimed by Toronto Blue Jays


Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that outfielder Casper Wells was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Wells was designated for assignment on March 31 when Seattle set its Opening Day roster.

Wells, 28, was acquired by Seattle from Detroit on July 30, 2011. In parts of two seasons with Seattle, he hit .225 (87-for-387) with 13 doubles, 3 triples, 17 home runs and 51 RBI in 124 games. He had a .304 on-base percentage and slugged .406 (OPS of .710).
