Mariners recall RHP Blake Beavan to start tonight's game vs. Royals
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Blake Beavan from AAA Tacoma and optioned RHP Steve Delabar to AAA Tacoma.
Beavan (#49) will be the Mariners starting pitcher in tonight's game at Kansas City (5:10 pm PT/7:10 pm CT).
Beavan, 23, returns to the Majors after making six starts with the Rainiers. He went 4-0 with a 2.61 ERA (11 ER, 38.0 IP), including 7.0 shutout innings in his last start July 13 vs. Colorado Springs (7.0,2,0,0,2,3). In 12 starts with the Mariners this season is 3-6 with a 5.92 ERA (41 ER, 62.1 IP). He was optioned to Tacoma on June 13.
Delabar, 28, has gone 2-1 with a 4.18 ERA (15 ER, 32.1 IP) in 30 appearances over three stints with the Mariners (March 28-May 30, June 13-16, June 29-July 16). He has recorded 44 strikeouts for a 12.25 K/9.0 IP ratio, while also allowing 8 home runs. With Tacoma this season he has gone 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA (5 ER, 12.0 IP) in 9 appearances.
