Mariners host Tigers to complete 6-game homestand

THE SETUP: The Mariners (13-17), fresh off a series win against the Minnesota Twins, host the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series starting tonight to finish off the current 6-game homestand. There are plenty of ticket promotions for the three-game series vs. the Tigers (see below) and great seats are available for every game against the defending AL Central Champion Tigers. THIS WEEK: The Mariners and Tigers meet for the second time already this season, with Seattle sweeping a three-game series in Detroit April 24-26. The Tigers are 14-13 and are in 2nd place in the AL Central. Former Mariner Doug Fister will return from the disabled list and start Monday’s series opener, and Tigers ace and 2011 AL MVP Justin Verlander will start Tuesday. The Mariners are the only team over the last four seasons to beat Verlander five times, with the reigning Cy Young winner going 2-5 with a 3.73 ERA over his last 7 starts vs. Seattle. Rookie left-hander Drew Smyly is 1-0 with a 1.61 ERA in his first five MLB starts and is tied for the AL lead in ERA.
