Medical update on Mariners catcher Adam Moore

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik has announced the following medical update on Tacoma Rainiers catcher Adam Moore:

Moore, 27, was removed from the Rainiers game Monday at Fresno in the second inning after suffering an injury. He flew back to Seattle yesterday where he underwent an MRI.

Moore will have knee surgery tomorrow on a right medial meniscus tear. The surgery will be performed by Mariners Medical Director Dr. Edward Khalfayan in Seattle.

In 10 games with the Rainiers this season he was batting .303 (10x33) with 5 runs, 1 home run and 5 RBI.

Moore started the year on the Major League disabled list recovering from a fracture in the third metacarpal in his right wrist suffered during spring training. Moore was limited to two games with Seattle last season after suffering a torn medial meniscus in his right knee that required surgery.
