Rockies right-hander Tyler Chatwood threw three scoreless frames before giving up three runs in the fourth. Chatwood wound up going 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, three walks and recording three strikeouts on 61 pitches.
Mariners starter Hector Noesi gave up just two hits over the first four innings, but the Rockies made the most of them, scratching out a pair of runs. Noesi then gave up two singles leading off the fifth before the rain and hail began falling and the game was called.
The Rockies got to Noesi for a run in the first when Eric Young Jr. led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Tim Wheeler.
They added another in the fourth when catcher Jordan Pacheco walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a ground out and then scored on another wild pitch that got away from catcher John Jaso.
Ichiro Suzuki singled in the first for Seattle, his sixth hit in nine at-bats. But he was robbed by second baseman DJ LeMahieu in the third, when LeMahieu snared a hard line drive to his left that appeared headed into right field with runners on first and third and two outs.
Ichiro went 1-for-2 as the designated hitter and is now batting .417 this spring, with three more games before Seattle heads to Japan for a season-opening series with the A's.
Seager's two-run shot followed a single by Casper Wells. Carlos Peguero then walked, took third on a single by John Jaso and scored on Chone Figgins' base hit to left. Figgins went 2-for-3 and made a nice backhanded stop of a hard shot by Chris Nelson in the fourth inning while getting the start at shortstop.
Up next: Shortstop Brendan Ryan expects to return to action after missing four days with a sore quadricep muscle when the Mariners host the Cubs in a 1:05 p.m. PT game at Peoria Stadium. Jason Vargas will be on the hill for Seattle, making his final Cactus League start before the team heads to Tokyo to face the A's. Vargas is 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA in two spring games. He'll start the second game of the regular season in Japan on March 29.
