SEATTLE -- Having the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner in the house is a great place to start for the 13th annual Mariners FanFest on Jan. 29-30 at Safeco Field, and this year's event promises to have a loaded lineup of new and old players in addition to "The King."
Felix Hernandez will be joined by Chone Figgins, Michael Saunders, Jason Vargas and Brandon League, as well as new veteran teammates Miguel Olivo and Brendan Ryan and highly regarded prospects Dustin Ackley, Michael Pineda, Nick Franklin and Kyle Seager.
New manager Eric Wedge will be on hand, along with general manager Jack Zduriencik. And for old times' sakes, former standouts Bret Boone, Jay Buhner and Dan Wilson are also among the scheduled guests at the two-day event.
FanFest runs each day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. PT and admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-14 and free for children 5 and younger. Parking is available at the Safeco Field garage for $5 in advance or $10 on the day of the event.
This year's event will include a Dave Niehaus tribute area with video, photos and memorabilia honoring the Hall of Fame broadcaster. Also new is the opportunity to hit a simulated Hernandez fastball in the visitor clubhouse batting cage and a Tools of the Trade section where fans can swing an actual bat used by Ichiro Suzuki or try on Figgins' batting gloves.
The "Future Stars" promotion is also new, with Ackley, Pineda, Franklin and Seager being made available both days in the visitors clubhouse to sign autographs alongside displays about the Mariners' Minor League system.
The four youngsters also will participate in the Dugout Dialog fan Q&A sessions along with other Mariners players, coaches and front-office personnel.
FanFest will also include the opportunity for fans to run the bases, tour the Mariners clubhouse, throw a pitch in the bullpen, catch a pop fly in left field, play in the Kids Fun Zone and learn to keep score with a video hosted by broadcaster Rick Rizzs.
Fans also will get a sneak preview of the club's remodeling of the Bullpen Market in center field, as well as the chance to try out different vantage points in the park in the "Select-A-Seat" program if they wish to talk to an account representative about season ticket packages. Account representatives will be available at the Mariners Team Store.
FanFest tickets can be purchased in advance at www.mariners.com/fanfest.
