SEATTLE -- For those unable to attend Saturday's public ceremony for Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus at Safeco Field, the event will be carried live by several different media outlets.
FSN Northwest, KOMO-4 and Northwest Cable News will all televise the 1:10 p.m. PT celebration of Niehaus' life. Additionally, the hour-long tribute will be carried by 710 ESPN Seattle and KOMO 1000 and can also be watched on www.mariners.com.
The club also announced that Edgar Martinez has been added to the list of speakers for the memorial, joining former teammates Dan Wilson and Jay Buhner, former broadcaster Ron Fairly, two of Niehaus' children, Andy Niehaus and Greta Niehaus Dunn, as well as life-long baseball fan Marlaina Lieberg.
Ken Griffey Jr. will appear in a video message, along with fellow Hall of Fame broadcasters Vin Scully, Jon Miller, Joe Garagiola and Marty Brennamen.
The Home Plate Gates will open at noon for the free event, with parking also available at no charge in the Safeco Field Garage.
Niehaus passed away Nov. 10 at the age of 75. He has been the voice of the Mariners since the club's inception in 1977 and was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
