Moyer looks to get on winning track

Mariners return home for Red Sox showdown

Maybe returning to Safeco Field will get Jamie Moyer back on the winning track again.

Moyer -- who hasn't won since June 24 -- returns to Safeco Field on Friday to take the mound when Seattle opens a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox.

Moyer has been a victim of poor run support as Seattle has been shut out five times in games he's started this season.

Pitching on the road hasn't agreed with the 43-year-old left-hander as he's gone 2-4 with a 5.52 ERA.

At Safeco Field, Moyer is 3-4 with a 2.81 ERA.

The Mariners are home for six games -- three against Boston and three more against the Toronto Blue Jays before embarking on a six-game road swing to Cleveland and Baltimore.

The Mariners are coming off a 2-4 road trip to Toronto and New York, though all four losses were by two runs or less -- three in extra innings.

Pitching matchup
SEA: LHP Jamie Moyer (5-8, 3.75 ERA)
Moyer hasn't fared well against the Red Sox in his career, going 6-10 with a 6.39 ERA in 21 games. He's 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA against Boston this season.

BOS: RHP Kyle Snyder (1-1, 10.03)
Snyder was claimed off waivers from Kansas City in June. He's only made two starts with the Red Sox after sporting a 22.50 ERA in one game with the Royals.

Players to watch
In his first series against the Red Sox, Seattle rookie catcher Kenji Johjima hit .455 in the four-game series, going 5-for-11 with an RBI.
