ANAHEIM -- On the injury front, the Mariners received two pieces of bad news on Thursday.
Russell Branyan banged his left toe on a table around 5 a.m. PT on Thursday morning at the Mariners' hotel when he went to close the curtains. He'll be out two days minimum and will be day-to-day after that, manager Don Wakamatsu said.
"We've all done that, not to that extent," Wakamatsu said.
The more troubling news was related to Erik Bedard, who suffered a setback in his recovery from surgery on his throwing shoulder when he felt discomfort while playing catch on Thursday.
Bedard was able to conveniently visit his surgeon, Angels team doctor Lewis Yocum, but Wakamatsu did not know the results of that visit prior to Thursday's Angels-Mariners game at Angel Stadium.
Wakamatsu said Bedard is going to go back with team on Sunday and will receive an MRI exam or possibly a CAT scan.
